Lamb Update
We documented a number of new lambs born in our study areas in March, and we know more are out there we haven’t seen. Lambing season can continue through June. The lambs are growing quickly since many of them were born in January and are a couple of months old now. As always, if you’re out hiking and see lambs, please let us know by either calling 760-346-7334 or emailing bi@bighorninstitute.org, but please don’t post in social media.

Breakfast with the Bighorn
Our 5th Annual Breakfast with the Bighorn fundraiser was great fun and we appreciate all who came and donated auction items for future events! Kept to just 30 guests, this member mixer was a great opportunity to visit while we enjoying a delicious catered breakfast by Broken Yolk Café. Thanks to all who were able to join us and for your incredible generosity!

Bighorn Presentations
In early March, we gave a bighorn presentation to all of the 3rd grade students at Amelia Earhart Elementary School, around 100 kids. They were very excited to hear about the sheep and our work. The kids were curious and had great questions.
In mid-March, we traveled down to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to speak with a group of grad students in the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) master’s program with Miami University, in partnership with San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. We were happy to partner with them and will continue to do so in the future. If you would like a bighorn sheep presentation for your group, give us a call (760-346-7334) or email us (bi@bighorninstitute.org); we’d love to come talk to you!

Member Hike Hiatus
Our last member hike of the season took place Wednesday, March 18th and it was a great ending to another successful season. It was a hot one and the sheep made us work for it, showing up at the very end, but it was worth it! We’ve had a wonderful season of Member Hikes and saw sheep on every outing. We would love to have you join us when they resume in the fall. In the meantime, if you’re out hiking and see sheep, please log your sightings into Bighorn Institute’s project in iNaturalist. It’s free and helps us keep track of the sheep. For more information visit our website: www.BighornInstitute.org/inaturalist-project
